The Voice- Just Kidding, Just Fine, and Other Lies HD
The Voice, a Spring Lake Park High School theater troupe, performed "Just Kidding, Just Fine, and Other Lies," an original work about the topic of dating violence and bullying as part of a March 22 program sponsored by numerous Anoka County organizations, aimed at ending violence through art, education, and community-building. Cast members for The Voice are Justine Borden, Gene Capocasa, Chelsea Chilson, Chris Falken, Jack Fish, Will Kaiser, Rachel Lehman, Mariah Leon, Rebecca Nelson, Stephanie Pi, Andrew Strohmayer, and Melissa Warme. The director is Jennifer Bobbe. Through a variety of art forms, performances, and visual art pieces, forty Spring Lake Park and Columbia Heights High School students illustrated unhealthy behaviors, signs of troubled relationships, what healthy relationships look like, and community resources available to youth. The student creations were designed to raise awareness and empower people to help prevent violence in homes, schools, and communities. Prior to performances at Columbia Heights and Spring Lake Park High Schools, and with guidance from Spring Lake Park teacher Jennifer Bobbe, Columbia Heights teacher Shari Pack, Anoka County violence prevention professionals, and local artists, students were educated about teen dating violence and other forms of abuse. They also explored ways to build healthy relationships that contribute to peaceful communities. For more information about The Voice, contact Jennifer Bobbe at jbobbe@district16.org or 763-795-5134.
