East Lake walnut dresser walk around before refinishing HD

That’s great !! It’ll be heartwarming to watch as you bring this Old Beauty back to Life. This belonged to my GrandFather’s Father ... & it might not have been ‘new’ even then ... I’d say it’s got to go back to maybe 1850 ... but I’m sure you’re a lot more familiar with furniture than I am. I have always treasured this piece though. I was unable to use it for awhile so just had it sitting in a back bedroom ... probably around 1994; I’d just moved into my house ... and the 2nd floor toilet sprung a leak after I’d left in the morning & I didn’t discover it until around 8 pm that night; I had water filling the hallway ceiling light fixture that then dripped down to the floor & on down to the basement floor. It wasn’t a flood ... but the interior of the house was saturated with humidity. I glanced at the marble-top & wiped it down ... then, probably a number of months later ... it was just stored in the back ... I suddenly spotted the beginnings of little ‘hangnail’ feathery little peelings on the sides ... I thought it was the varnish; then I moved it into my parents’ basement & it sat there for at least 20 years ... with sheets over it. Now, my Mother is moving; I have to move it. Fortunately, I am able to afford your resuscitative skills. And I think I have a place I can fit it into in my living room. I’m going to make it happen. Looking forward to your next progress report.
