Fluoridation of Tap Water Is Not Safe, Effective, or Ethical HD

At an event entitled "Fluoride in Our Tap Water: Medicine or Toxin?" Drs. James Beck and Robert Dickson addressed a public form a week before the municipal election in Lethbridge Alberta Canada in October of 2013. The speakers addressed the wrongful intervention in local politics of Dr. James Talbot, Chief Medical Officer of Health in Alberta. Dr. Talbot tried to influence the outcome of the local vote by sending a letter to all the candidates arguing that fluoridation of tap water is safe and cost saving. The presenters at the Lethbridge Fluoridation Forum explained why fluoridation of tap is neither safe nor effective and why it is unethical to mass medicate citizens without their consent. Dr. Beck related the effects of fluoridation on lowering IQs in children. Both presenters highlighted why efforts by a Chief Medical Health Officer to affect the outcome of a local election would be highly unethical in any supposedly democratic jurisdiction. Such officials can only be credible if they are perceived to be above partisan politics. Dr. Beck is Professor Emeritus of Medical Biophysics at the University of Calgary.
