ToneWoodAmp + iPad as Insert Effect unit using GuitarViol HD

30.05.2016
ToneWoodAmp allows you to play your acoustic guitar with different effects UNPLUGGED. (The effect sound is played using the instrument body itself). It also allows an external insert effect unit in the ToneWoodAmp signal path (serial or parallel) and also output via instrument body. A typical usage is using iPhone or iPad as the insert effect. The video is directly recorded using iPhone. TWAmp provides an iDevice connection cable as an official accessory. However, in this video I tried an alternative approach to connect iPad as insert effects. Instead of using the cable to connect to 3.5 jack of iPad, I use an TRS insert cable and a digital audio interface (SonicPort VX). Which allows iPad to output louder audio without worrying about crosstalk feedbacks (which is a common problem for most 3.5 TRRS jack adapters) For the effect app, I used MIDI Guitar 2 as suggested by TWAmp official videos and tried another synth I personally love - SampleWiz. which is inserted into ToneWoodAmp in serial mode (the ToneWoodAmp delay effect processed the SampleWiz sound instead of instrument sound) The instrument used in the video is acoustic GuitarViol which is a guitar-formatted bowed string instrument.
