Perturbation Training for ACL Rehab/Injury Prevention
A study published this month by Johnston et al (2018) shows that over 70% of the ACL injuries sustained in the NFL are non-contact in nature; with most of the non-contact injuries (34/50) occuring after a bump/perturbation to the player (indirect contact). Below are just a couple of examples of perturbation drills that could be implemented into your weekly training plan to expose your athletes to perturbations prior to landing/change of direction. NOTE: they may not be specific and suitable for NFL, but are certainly good for basketball, AFL, rugby & netball, just to name a few sports. Research link: https://lnkd.in/feSJwyM
