My country has been invaded by Russia. In this video I will tell you what happened on the one hundred and eighty ninth day of the war. Day 189: August 31 In the Kherson direction, the Ukrainians seem to have gained complete air superiority, and the strategy that they implemented to ensure it is nothing less than ingenious. As you remember, over the last several weeks, the Ukrainians sabotaged Russian bases across the whole Crimean Peninsula. They blew up an airbase in Saky, Bakhchysarai, an ammunition depot in Dzhankoi, and then conducted a large-scale drone reconnaissance along the whole western shore. This made the Russians believe that the Ukrainians are preparing a massive attack on Crimea to celebrate their independence day. The Russians already lost from 20 confirmed to 50 unconfirmed aircraft, and for safety reasons relocated most of their fighter jets and helicopters back to Russia. Simultaneously, they also moved dozens of air defense systems S-300 to Crimea. This meant that the Russians in Kherson, neither have a good air defense, nor air support, because almost all aircraft that the Russians use in Kherson are kept in Crimea – far behind the front line. But this time they were too far, so the Ukrainians used antiradar missiles to disable the rest of the air defense, and then used their aviation virtually with impunity. When it comes to ground operations, the fights reportedly took place near Liubomyrivka, Ternovi Pody and Blahodatne. These ground attacks were not intense because as previously, the goal here is just to fix Russian forces, while the Ukrainians are trying to collapse Russian defense in the northern part of the region. Some commentators doubted the usefulness of this strategy, so let me explain why it is used. Deeper in the region, the Russians have mobile clusters of forces that are responsible for helping out in the attacked directions, so by pushing in all directions, the Ukrainians make sure that these forces are spread out as thinly as possible, which would increase the chances of a breakthrough. The heaviest fights took place in the Dudchany direction. After the Russians lost Olhyne, they immediately launched a counterattack to break free the Russians in Vysocopillia from the pocket, because as you can see this Russian stronghold became completely isolated from the rest. While the fights here are still taking place, the Ukrainians made the next step in the development of their offensive operation and also launched several attacks in the direction of Arkhanhelske. As you can see, this is another perfect opportunity for taking another Russian stronghold in a pocket, and It looks like the Ukrainians used exactly the same tactic as with Vysokopillia: they launched a sm
