How valve timing diagram works. ✔ HD
More details visit: http://www.techtrixinfo.com/ Valve timing diagram The valve timing diagram explained in this topic, the valve timing diagram represents the closing and opening of valves. As shown in the fig: represent the valve timing diagram. Theoretically how valves should operate: The inlet valve should valve open at top dead centre (TDC) and close at bottom dead centre ( BDC). Similarly that exhaust valve should open instantaneously at bottom dead centre (BDC) and remain open till it reaches top dead centre (TDC), where it must close. Practically limitations of the theoretical concept: Due to inertia the valves cannot open instantaneously and also air fuel mixture has its own inertia; consequently more time is required for intake and exhaust process. Valve timing diagram explained (practical working of valves): As shown in fig: 1, the inlet valve is opened about 5 degree before TDC (called valve lead) and closes after about 45 degree to BDC (called valve lag). Like wise the exhaust valve is opened before about 50 degree of BDC and closes after 5 degree to TDC. The condition when both the inlet and exhaust valves are open simultaneously during the crank shaft rotation as show in fig: is called valve over lap.
