Dance Your PhD 2015 - Good Seeds Gone Wild: how to handle GMOs responsibly HD

27.10.2015
This is an entry for the Dance your PhD Competition (http://gonzolabs.org/dance/). In my PhD research, I argue that owners of new technologies have special responsibilities to learn about the technologies they use, in this case GMOs, in order to act in a timely and useful way, given that they are living technologies and that many of their effects are unknown. I present this constructive approach to the use of biotechnology in agriculture with the aim of creating a real discussion on how we should manage our food systems. For more of the academic stuff see here: http://ethicsandtechnology.eu/member/zoe_robaey/ I love dancing, and I sometimes love my PhD, so this was a way for me to share my thoughts in a narrative and creative way. This video was filmed in Rotterdam, with the creative input and help of my friends and avid swing dancers: Ruben Weijers, Eglė Aleknavičiūtė, Becky Tomas, Marike Verbiest, Jakob Kammhuber, Sylvie Lhoste, Myriam Méret, Dorine Berkvens and Eline Jansen. Also, this video was made possible thanks to Marike Verbiest who spent countless hours editing this with me and bringing her humour to the argument. Music: Diga diga doo by Artie Shaw
