Footage: The Spirit Moves: A History of Black Social Dance on Film, 1900–1986 (1987) Filmed, directed and produced by Mura Dehn, for over 30 years, “The Spirit Moves” was eventually released in 1987. It was recorded for archival purposes and originally consists of almost 6 hours of historical footage. It includes rare vintage film of dancers Al Minns and Leon James.
