105 mm APFSDS-T M900 Vs Leopard 2 # Ballistic Simulation HD

This Video presents U.S. M900 APFSDS-T (105 mm impact with Leopard 2 tank. This video present the study on leopard front armor plate angle impact on APFSDS-T (Armor Piercing Fin Stabilized Discarding Sabot - Tracer). This video highlights various angle of impact. It is observed that, the M900 APFSDS-T 105 mm is failed to penetrate the leopard-2 tank due to its unique front armor plate angle. APFSDS instead of penetrating it slightly deviates upwards. The Johnson + Cook material model is used for projectile. High velocity of 1505 m/s is applied to the projectile. The leopard tank 2 have composite armor but in present simulation we assumed rolled homogeneous armor as material. Also we assumed the APFSDS will small fillet at the tip of projectile. The thickness of the front armor plate is approx. 53 mm and will increase up to 270 mm at penetration. The Leopard 2 is a main battle tank developed by Krauss-Maffei in the 1970s for the West German Army. While The M900 is a U.S. designed and developed 105mm APFSDS-T cartridge which is Designed for the M68A1 and M68A1E4 guns. This cartridge is compatible with the US M-1, M-60, and M-48 series tanks emplying the 105mm M-68 cannon.
