14 borbenih aviona i obuku pilota i mehaničara će Hrvatska platiti 930 miliona eura. Croatia will buy French multi-role fighter planes Rafale in the F3R version. These fighter planes were manufactured about 15 years ago, and the seller is Rafala Dassault Aviation, which will deliver 12 single-seater produced in 2007 and two two-seater produced in 2005 within 18 months of signing the contract. If the contract with the French manufacturer is signed this year, the first 8 planes, including two two-seater, would be delivered by 2024, and the other 6 single-seater during 2025. This means that the age of these planes at the time of arrival in Croatia will be around 20 years. Croatia will pay 930 million euros for 14 fighter planes and training of pilots and mechanics. That price does not include the purchase of guided air-to-air missile, air-to-ground weapons as well as air bombs, and that package will be additionally paid to the French around 80 million euros. The whole job of procuring multi-purpose fighter planes will cost over a billion euros in the old days. Given that Lockheed Martin offered new F-16 block 70 with a delivery period of five to six years, the French offer prevailed not to pay for Air Policing of Croatian airspace to other NATO members, because the resources of existing MiG-21s in HRZ -u expire by 2024.
