Homemade CNC PCB Routing Test

This video shows my homemade CNC pcb routing test on a CD cover. It shows the spindle during routing operation , X-Y stepper motors and the currently executed instruction on software running on PC. The coordinates is sent by our designed software which converts image to coordinates file through serial connection to the MCU (PIC18F458). MCU controls the stepper motors motion(X,Y&Z) to achieve the desired design into physically implemented. Two SLA7024 drivers are used to interface X&Y stepper motors and ULN2083 for Z stepper motor . The stepper motor rotational movement is converted into linear one by an attached leading screw 1mm/third, with 200step/rev for the stepper motor result a 5um/step resolution. Most of the components used are taken from printers(X,Y and Z axis stepper motors and spindle) and cd-rom(Z-axis rods).
