Weekly News News 1 Rakhines Attacked Rohingya Fishermen After Kidnapping Extremists Rakhines kidnapped 4 Rohingya fishermen and tortured them critically in a village of Pongnakyung Township today (21st Feb 2018), report sources. A set of 8-10 fanatic Rakhines from Rong Chaung village along with their village administrator arrived at the island in Siddirkul village at around 11:00 AM, where 4 Rohingya were fishing as daily. Immediately after arriving at the area they kidnapped 4 of the fishermen and tortured them heavily, leading to critical injuries. After hours of torturing they were set free in fighting with life and death situation. News 2 Elephant Trample Killed A Rohingya Child & Injured Many A 12 year old child died and 30 other Rohingya injured in an elephant attack yesterday (22nd Feb) in Kutupalong makeshift camps, where thousands of newly arrived Rohingya have taken shelter since late 2017. A wild elephant trampled and destroyed a number of Rohingya sheds in Kutualong camp, while trying to save lives all started to move in haphazard motion. Unfortunately, a 12 year old child couldn’t manage to escape the situation and came under the elephant attack. While attempting to save live 30 others were also injured, whom are heard to be in treatment now. News 3 Military Burnt 5 Rohingya houses at Zero-Line Area Burmese Military torched 5 Rohingya houses at zero line area near Tongbru Sub-Township, Maungdaw Township yesterday (22nd Feb), report locals from the area. At late night 5 Rohingya houses were torched down by the Burmese military at no man area between the border of Burma (Myanmar) and Bangladesh. Fire in this trapped situation have created an ambiance of further fear in upcoming days, where a dramatic repatriation deal have already placed them under immense pressure. News 4 Educational Department Segregates Rohingya Students’ Examination Hall Rohingya Students attempting to take admission for 10th standard are being discriminated and segregated by the Burmese educational department in Buthidaung township, which started from 19th February 2018, complains a victim. Rohingya students trying to get admission in 10th standard are given lower roll no. in their admission form by the Educational department officials. Moreover they also started planning for segregating examination hall for Rohingya and Mogh (Rakhine) students in Buthidaung high school. News 5 Burmese Military’s Catapult Injured a Rohingya Girl Burmese Military injured a Rohingya girl with their catapult on 24th February 2018, reports an eyewitness. At late evening a group of military attacked a child with catapult and injured her critally. The victim was identified to be Asiya Begum D/O Mufizur Rahman. The victim was a girl of 7 years old, residing in Tongbru area. The attack left her critically injured and is in need of immediate medicle assistance.
