"Night Mail" Train in Stirling HD
The steam locomotive No 46115 "Scots Guardsman" which starred in the classic 1936 film Night Mail visited Stirling Railway Station. The loco -- which was built in 1927 by the North British Locomotive Company in Glasgow -- was hauling vintage maroon coaches. The film, Night Mail, is an account of the operations of the Royal Mail trains before the war and is perhaps best remembered for the rhyming verses written by W H Auden. The Forth Circle Steam Special was organised by the Scottish Railway Preservation Society.
