MICHEL JACKSON who died of a cardiac arrest, cq was killed
l-atelierdelaliberte.spaces.live.com This dirge is dedicated by its composer Robert Jan Kelder to his artist brother in arms Michael Jackson, who died of a cardiac arrest, cq was killed. The dirge was originally composed as a sort of funeral music in memory of a close friend who took his own life. This was in 1963 when Kelder studied music composition at the Conservatory of McGill University in Montreal, Canada. After graduating with a degree bachelor of music, Kelder went to Woodstock and Los Angeles to further his musical career as songwriter and singer, making demos with members of the band of Van Morrison and Niel Diamond. In 1973 he made a tour of America with Will Geer, a close friend of the American Homer Woody Guthrie. The next year he went to Switzerland to study anthroposophy developed by Rudolf Steiner at the Goetheanum, but kept performing. In his later years he tuned to translating and publishing. In the novel The Golden Tip The Entanglement of the Under- and Upper World and the Murder of Dutch Industrialist Gerrit Jan Heijn by Slobodan Radojev, which will be published soon, one of his songs Gypsy Scholar is included which can be heard. On YouTube a documentary made by Slobodan Mitric called De Artiest Robert Jan Kelder can be seen with a number of his songs and interviews, partly in English.
