1990 Volvo 740 Hot Start Problem Solved HD
In this case, my hard start problem resulted from the cable leading to the crank position sensor that was resting on the upper heater core hose. The hose would heat up, which would then heat the CPS cable, and cause poor hot starting conditions. The engine would start fine when cold, but then require many cranks when hot. I solved this by using a cable tie to isolate the CPS cable from all heated engine components.
