Caravan Drum Solo-Hamilton Harris Project-Ken Loomer(drums)
Caravan is a song that Duke Ellington and Juan Tizol wrote that many of the great jazz drummers like Buddy Rich,Gene Krupa,Joe Morello,Jo Jones,Steve Smith and so many others have played. In this version of Caravan,I get to play it with the wonderful Hamilton Harris Project jazz band. Tom Hamilton on bass is one of my best friends and we have played for over 15 years in many bands. My good friend Dan Harris on guitar has that great feel for the music and always adds so much to the music. In Caravan the first solo is played by Michael Aloia on keyboards. Next Dan Harris on guitar lays down his solo followed by Tom Hamilton doing his swinging solo on bass. Now I get to do my drum solo on my classic Slingerland 1968 drumset. As you may know, the movie Whiplash about a jazz drummer trying to make it big, made Caravan famous all over again. Hope you think the "Tempo" is alright on this version of Caravan. This was from a concert we did at the Firehouse Cultural Center in Ruskin,Florida. For my bio,go to kenloomer.com.
