Can you use rubber stamps on cards for sale? That was the question that inspired this video but the answer is not always clear. Some companies will allow it and other will not, some companies terms of use are so restrictive that you can buy a rubber stamps but not actually use it! Crazy! Today I will try to clear up the confusion of what is and is not subjust to copyright and how you can use stamped images without infringing on the rights of anyone. Here is the list of stamp companies with Angel Policies: http://rubberstamping.about.com/od/gettingstarted/tp/AngelPolicy.htm *an Angel Policy means a company will allow you to make handstamped items for sale. Also refered to an Angel Company What IS subject to copyright: original artwork (drawings, paintings, sculptures, photographs) books preformances (sound and video recordings) song lyrics What is not subject to copywright ideas techniques utilitarian objects (clothes, furniture) works of art or song lyrics in the public domain (please note, recording of old music are copyrighted to the performer even though the music is in the public domain, you cannot use the recording without permission) See also trademark and patent law if you want to get more confused, or you need sleep aid.
