Grades, Marks, Percentages - Given Too Much Importance in India!

In this video, I have stressed upon the fact that when it comes to marks, percentages, grades, they are given way too much importance in India than is due for them. I just feel that it is really not appropriate at all. At the end of the day, parents, teachers, schools and colleges, altogether put so much pressure on students to perform. And this comes at the cost of real learning. In this context, you might recall, the way the Professor in the movie 3 Idiots stressed upon the definition per se, without actually trying to focus on the real meaning or implication of an object. So what is the solution? Well, the solution lies in a grading system and objective type entrance tests, coupled with more and more vocational courses across the country so that there is less pressure on students, especially at the school level, in terms of say the Class X and XII Board Exams where students are compelled to pretty much give up on literally everything else, just to score those desired marks.
