Following the 2020 calendar year, where a women’s volleyball season didn’t happen, the Rainbow Wahine ended the 2021 campaign in a memorable way by making it to the NCAA tournament and pulling off a top-25 win. Plus, Rainbow Warrior football is bowl-bound for the fourth consecutive year. • Women’s Volleyball knocked off No. 24 Mississippi State in a five-set thriller to notch a victory in the NCAA tournament but fell in three sets to No. 15 Washington in the round of 32. • Football accepted a bid to play in the EasyPost Hawai‘i Bowl scheduled for a 3 p.m. HT kickoff against Memphis on Christmas Eve Day. It’s the fifth time UH has qualified and accepted a bowl bid in six years. The Rainbow Warriors have won back-to-back bowls, including their last appearance in the Hawai‘i Bowl in 2019 against BYU. • Following a 1-1 stint in the Las Vegas Classic during Thanksgiving, men’s basketball stayed on the road with a stop at Santa Clara. UH battled with the WCC heavyweight but came up short, 70-58. • So far this season, it has been the Amy Atwell show for women’s basketball as the sixth-year senior dropped 24 points in a 76-63 win over LMU. • It was a busy week for Anna Kotonen, John Clark, Owen Nagan, and Ian Venter as the foursome from the UH swim team traveled to Greensboro, N.C. for the Toyota U.S. Open. Kotonen recorded multiple Final A finishes, while the others improved throughout the four-day event, building up their resumes for the 2021-2022 season ahead.
