Yarn balls for Christmas | DIY Rustic Christmas Decorations HD

16.12.2015
This project is a must for DIY enthusiats :) You’ll become an expert in no time. I must worn you: you’ll probably get hooked on these lovely home made string balls and you’ll find interesting places in your home to place them. These are the steps you need to create a string ball for your Christmas tree: Step 1: Mix some transparent glue and water in a bowl or in a jar. Soak your yarn in this liquid. Things could get messy so make sure your working surface is protected. Step 2: Inflate a baloon the size you wish and make a knot. Step 3: Start by wrapping your yarn thread around it and secure the end. Apply a little pressure to remove the excess sticky solution. Continue creating random paths until you get the density you want. Secure the end and leave a bit of thread to hang it for drying. If you feel that there’s still a lot of liquid on the string you want to go for this method: extract the thread first by appling pressure and then start wrapping. Step 4: Do your best in waiting 24 hours. If you don’t have too much space you can hang them using these hangers in a shower cabin. Step 5: Cut the thread and punch the balloon with a needle or a toothpick and get it out of there. This is the best part :) Try with more types of thread and see which you like best. These are some of my experiments. This method inspired me to go for more string ornamets. I used larger ballons for bigger string balls where I put some Christmas lights. And then, I wanted to be able to make other shapes too so I applied a different method for these cute hearts and stars. Happy holidays!
