A warm welcome to the Qantas 747 at Auckland Airport. 5 years since these were last scheduled into Auckland, as the official airline of the British & Irish Lions Tour of New Zealand, Qantas reintroduced the 747 to Auckland from Sydney as QF141 and QF144, return, for Lions Rugby supporters to attend the matches against the All Blacks. This was the first of 5 flights with added capacity by utilising the 747-400. Due to a big delay before taxi, I was not able to stay for the takeoff. This was because the airbridge dented the fuselage skin just below the cabin door as it was disconnecting. This required 2 hours of repair time at the gate.
