[X-Plane 10] Cessna 172 bird strike at Doylestown Airport (KDYL) HD
At about 40-50 AGL, a flock of birds dashed across RWY 05 resulting in an unavoidable bird strike, and subsequent engine out. At this altitude, the only option is to nose over and land straight ahead. If the takeoff had occurred from RWY 23, the aircraft would have to tend with residences, businesses, and other obstacles, making a safe landing less likely. (Weather: winds light/variable, alt. 3010, temp. 31 degrees Celsius)
