XP11 | Can a 737 CAPTAIN fly an Electric Plane over the English Channel!? | VSKYLABS Contraventus

Continuing with the “Can a 737 Captain fly a…… series” we’re flying something quite unique today! In this stream we’re jumping into the VSKYLABS Contraventus, a prototype and concept designed by VKSYLABS to experiment and research the practical use of electric power coupled with an ultra-efficient sail plane. The idea is to consume the fully charged battery during an initial climb out and then recharge it whilst performing an ultra-shallow glide. During the glide the forward motion of the aircraft wind mills the prop to recharge the battery. Utilising other external factors such as solar panels to recharge the battery and mother nature (Thermals/updrafts) the challenge is to try and stay up as long as possible! Let’s put it to the test by trying to cross the English Channel from Dover to Calais, a route flown by many pioneering and world breaking aviators!
