https://www.commtank.com/services/residential/oil-tank-installations-ma.php CommTank created this video to show examples of heating oil tank replacement projects. We’ve assembled a variety of heating oil tank installation scenarios, tank sizes and the brands used in our tank replacement service. Not all heating oil tanks in this video were originally installed in ideal locations. Crawl spaces and closets are typically the most difficult locations. Oil tanks installed prior to home construction completion are brought in through rough cut openings and not 29” or 32” door frames. Modifying a doorway or removing a wall takes time away from the tank installation so we prefer to have a project manager visit your site prior to the work so measurements can be made of doorways, hallways and staircase angles. Large heating oil tanks can be replaced with 2 smaller tanks in order to fit them through small entryways. In this video we install two 138-gallon Granby oil tanks to replace one 275-gallon tank. A low profile Roth tank is available for installation in basements with short ceilings. The Roth DWT plus 3 series is ideal for basement renovations. Granby steel tanks are available for horizontal mounting in crawl spaces and under decks. The installation of heating oil tanks in sheds provides protection from the elements. The floor of the shed must support the weight of a full tank. In this video we show a CommTank installed cement pad under the shed floor to support a new Roth oil tank for our client. A safe installation that meets local fire codes will ensure your oil tank performs properly for years to come. Double-wall heating oil tanks provide the best protection from oil leaks but there are other options. Installing a prefabricated secondary containment such as the tank tub from Oil Storage Solutions protects your tank and provides 110% containment. Shop fabricated steel containment or concrete containment built on site meet the 110% containment requirements as well. To install oil tanks in a garage there must be protective bollards. Oil tank lines are installed overhead or, when installed on concrete floors, covered in concrete to protect them from damage. Fuel lines installed outdoors in Massachusetts and New Hampshire require insulating foam and heat trace to prevent fuel from gelling in the coldest winter months.
