Home Made Black Licorice Squares HD

20.01.2014
This is a nice blend of flavors, combining mild black licorice with buttery caramel. After testing several home-made licorice recipes, we decided this was the one we liked most. Here is what you will need: 1 Cup Butter 2 Cups Granulated Sugar 1 Cup Light Corn Syrup 14 Ounce Can Sweetened Condensed Milk 1 or 2 Teaspoons Anise Extract (we used 1, this is the licorice flavor) 1/2 Teaspoon Black Food Coloring Pinch Salt Start out by melting the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the condensed milk, sugar and corn syrup. Heat mixture to 245F, stirring frequently to constantly so it does not burn. Once at the desired temperature, remove from the heat, then add your anise extract and food coloring, stir to blend. Transfer the candy to a 9" x 9" pan lined with foil and sprayed with a light coat of cooking oil. Allow to cool and set overnight before cutting into single serving sized pieces. Wrap individually and store in refrigerator.
