Three Door DRGM Musical Cuckoo Clock Restored

12.02.2010
Movement marked DRGM (Deutsches Reich Gebrauchmuster) which dates it to before 1945. I bought it online as"tested, working great". It did not even chime when the hands were turned. I had to dismantle the entire clock, clean, oil, and adjust the movement and reassemble everything. The crest needed the two loops replaced that holds it to the roofline(it had one large staple in one side). It also needed the bellows releathered and a matching minute hand was replaced by me. It is a 3 train, turntable, large fan, lyre type count wheel movement with a Thornes music movement. These are quite rare and hard to find. The weights are quite heavy and only run the clock for one day. This one is fully adjusted now and oiled ready for many more cuckoos. The little people come out every 30 minutes to dance around twice, hand in hand, before going back inside waiting to celebrate the next half hour. The case is 19 1/2" by 13 3/4". It has a nice large pendulum with a very long swing. You can see it dwarfs the 9" cuckoo that is hanging beside it for the moment.
