OOCL Indonesia departs Felixstowe with 3 Svitzer tugs to make way for her sister OOCL Germany 230518 HD
Cargo operations almost complete, just leaving one crane finishing the last few moves before departing. The pilot boards as planned from the shore side. Pilot radios VTS to say a few moves and they would be ready for the tugs and mooring gang. VTS had some unfortunate news that a reefer was causing an issue but an engineer was working to resolve the problem. A little while later a decision was made that it would be discharged but 8 boxes had to be moved before it could be discharged. A little while after that the berthing master said that it was going to stay onboard and the crane boom up. As the crane begins to boom up, the three Svitzer tugs ordered leave the pontoon to assist her off the berth. Svitzer Kent makes fast centre lead, the Svitzer Sky pushes up on the starboard quarter while singling up and the Svitzer Shotley makes fast on the starboard shoulder. Once the Shotley was made fast they push up while the mooring gang released her lines fore and aft. The last spring released, Sky backs away and leaves the Kent and Shotley to ease her off the berth. With the northerly breeze she began to make headway so the pilot kicks the main engine astern. Kent helps to back her out before the Shotley helps get the bow into the tide. As the pilot comes ahead on the main engine, Shotley eases and closes up to let got from the shoulder. The pilot wanted a tug to be on the port quarter for the powered indirect. Until the Shotley was on the portside the Sky was on standby. Once the Shotley was almost in posidtion the Sky stood down and went back to the tug pontoon. Speed increasing and the 90° Beach End turn approaching, the pilot gets the Kent to assist steering the OOCL Indonesia out of the harbour with an indirect. As the Kent builds up to full line load, Shotley on the quarter pushes up at a 45° angle to help the stern swing out of the harbour. Safely out of the harbour, Kent eases on the starboard quarter and the Shotley breaks away from the port quarter. Kent slowly reels in their gear and the crew onboard Indonesia slowly lower the gear on to the forward deck. Once the Kent had cleared the aft of the ship, the pilot increased the speed before meeting the Stena Hollandica and the OOCL Germany that were heading inbound.
