High-Rise Building Simulation #2 - Car Bomb Explosion (INACHUS) HD

24.09.2015
This video shows various Blender Bullet physics simulations of a constraint based structure that is modelled automatically based on real world parameters by an addon which is developed as part of the INACHUS research project. More specifically this video shows the first „backbone“-configuration test case: A residential high-rise building with 17 upper floors and 3 underground floors. The dimensions of the building is 23.5 x 23.5 m with a height of 62.1 m over ground. The main supporting structure of the building is a reinforced concrete framework that consists of peripheral facade columns and a central shear core stabilizing the structure against horizontal forces. The simulation scenario is an explosion under ground which eliminates the 3 lowest columns at one building corner. All the constraints between the rigid bodies were placed by the Bullet Constraints Builder script v1.68. The script automatically calculates breaking thresholds as well as element mass. The INACHUS project is a European wide research project starting in 2015, that examines measures to improve first response after building collapse in catastrophic events like earthquakes, storms, explosions etc. "INACHUS" stands for: Technological & Methodological Solutions for Integrated Wide Area Situation Awareness & Survivor Localization to Support Search & Rescue Teams See a video on the problems: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dVuTOj8Spcc Credits & Links: INACHUS - H2020, InvestEUresearch, EU-funded research, science http://www.inachus.eu Laurea University of Applied Sciences LUAS, Finland Kai Kostack, Oliver Walter, Seija Tiainen https://inachuslaurea.wordpress.com A paper on the system can be provided upon request.
