OtterBox Amplify vs Zagg Glass Elite for iPhone 11 & 11 Pro: Installation, Comparison & Review! HD
OtterBox Amplify and Zagg Glass Elite: How do they compare for iPhone 11/11 Pro? Both are super tough, super thin, and come with foolproof installers—which one is a better choice for your iPhone 11 or 11 Pro? In this review, I’m going to install both screen protectors—one on my iPhone 11 and one on my iPhone 11 Pro and see how they compare. So what’s special about the OtterBox Amplify? It comes out of a collaboration with Corning Glass and is made of a special aluminosilicate glass, which is extra thin and extra tough. It has 5x the scratch protection of a typical tempered glass screen protector. And it comes with a limited lifetime replacement warranty—you don’t need to register it or anything beforehand, just contact OtterBox if there is damage to the screen protector and they will replace it. You do, however, have to pay a shipping and handling fee for the warranty replacement. What’s special about Zagg Glass Elite? Like the OtterBox Amplify, it is made of an aluminosilicate glass, which makes it tougher and thinner than regular soda lime glass. Zagg says it is 4 times stronger than traditional glass screen protectors, and provides both extreme shatter protection and maximum scratch prevention. It also features ClearPrint™ technology, a special oil-dispersing treatment which supposedly makes fingerprints virtually disappear from the screen. Like OtterBox, Zagg has a limited lifetime replacement warranty (subject to a shipping and handling fee) and while you don’t have to register the product to get the warranty protection if you buy the screen protector directly from Zagg’s website, you do need to register it if you buy it somewhere else. Looking at the results of the installation, first off I’d like to say that both of these are outstanding screen protectors. The aluminosilicate glass they are made of is extremely thin, and should be very protective, and optical clarity and responsiveness is outstanding. They both have great installers that make getting a perfect screen protector installation very easy, and they look great on the phone. Both are case compatible and should fit with the vast majority of cases. So the two are far more similar than different. Areas where one or the other is superior are: thinness, screen coverage, screen coating and feel under the fingertips. For thinness, the Zagg Glass Elite wins. When you look at the two screen protectors side by side, the Glass Elite is clearly very slightly thinner. However, this comes at a slight cost to the feel of the screen protector edges, as they are not as softly rounded as Zagg screen protector edges typically are. They feel very slightly rougher, and the OtterBox Amplify has much more rounded feeling edges. Zagg Glass Elite also wins in screen coverage. It covers just a bit more of the screen sides, top and bottom than the OtterBox Amplify. Again, not a huge difference, but noticeable. An area where the OtterBox Amplify is superior is the screen feel. The oleophobic coating
