Happy Pi Day! The melody of Pi Song is based on the digits of Pi. Middle C is 1, D is 2, E is 3, and so forth up to the D an octave and a whole step above middle C, which is 9. Music theory geeks will recognize these as the scale degrees of C Major. 0 represents a rest. In a vocal performance, 0 should be whispered with no real pitch. Ludolph van Ceulen was a German-Dutch mathematician who calculated pi to 35 decimal places.
