Panzerotti (fried pizza) HD
Panzarotti, Panzerotti, Ponza Rotta, Calzone or just fried pizza, our variation is delicious by any name. Here is what you will need: Deep Fryer & Clean Oil Ground Italian Sausage Small Package Mushrooms Shredded Mozzarella Cheese Green Pepper Red Onion Pizza Sauce Pizza Dough Start out by browning and draining your italian sausage (WE DID NOT RECORD THIS STEP) Next chop up your onion and pepper, and cut your mushrooms into fairly small, uniform sized pieces. Now lightly saute the onions, peppers and mushrooms in some olive oil, until just starting to soften. You could make your own pizza sauce, see how here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AfQWNkUKA-I For this video though, we used a store bought sauce, same thing on the pizza dough, we choose to use a store bought mix, but making your own is fine as well. Anyway, roll out the dough cut into circles about 8 inches across (or whatever size you want). Spread some sauce down on the dough, but stay around an inch from the edge when topping, so you can properly seal the edge. Continue topping with some italian sausage, your sauteed vegetable mix and mozzarella cheese (or whatever toppings you enjoy, be adventurous even). Once your dough is topped, fold it over (in half) and press the edge to tightly seal, then place in your deep fryer at 350F to 375F for a few minutes per side. Ours took around 3 minutes per side, but it will depend on how big your panzerotti is. When golden brown on both sides, set on paper toweling to cool for a few minutes and enjoy!
