Potassium chlorate, starch and strontium nitrate
A reaction of potassium chlorate with starch. It was initiated by a drop of concentrated sulfuric acid onto the mixture. Chlorine dioxide, first formed from the acid and the chlorate, caused the ignition of starch at the point it was added, which then ignited the rest of the mixture. Strontium nitrate was added to produce red flame color.
