Man abandons new-born twins after wife dies in child-birth

A set of twins has been abandoned by their father after their mother died in hospital. The woman, Lucy Nabwire, a mother of nine, succumbed to excessive bleeding from a retained placenta. She had delivered at home with the help of a traditional birth attendant. Her husband, who took her to hospital when the bleeding got out of control, fled and left the babies in the maternity ward.
