From appearance to performance: Nikolaus Knebel at TEDxMuscat 2013
Nikolaus Knebel is an architect, educator, and author. He studied in Berlin, Singapore, and Delft, worked for Rem Koolhaas in Rotterdam, and Toyo Ito in Tokyo, as well as the Bauhaus Dessau Foundation and the German Technical Cooperation (GIZ) in Ethiopia. For the last 12 years he practiced independently and in project partnerships, with each of the built projects being awarded with prizes, published internationally and exhibited widely. He authored books on architectural and urban issues in Berlin, Tokyo, and Addis Ababa. His further research interest is in design thinking and didactics. Currently, he is Associate Professor at the German University of Technology in Oman, and leader of the Eco House project, a pioneering zero-energy building in the Arab region. In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
