Acura TLX Overview HD
The Acura TLX was a milestone car for Acura, combining to previous models into one, the TL and the TSX lines trimmed down to the TLX. This front wheel drive or all wheel drive car is loaded with advanced technology from transmission options, to all wheel steering and an advanced AWD system. Styling has been updated with the sportier A-Spec trim available with two engine choices. The TLX base engine is a 2.4L 4-cylinder with 206 hp. This is a FWD car but also adds P-AWS, yes the rear wheels turn too. The base engine gets an 8-speed duel clutch transmission. The larger 3.5L V6 has 290hp with the power going to all four wheels through a 9-sped transmission. This AWD system is called SH-AWD for better cornering ability but this model does not have the rear steer feature. The fule economy model is the base 2.4L and is rated at 10.0L/100km in the city and just 7.1L on the highway. The standard Safety includes front, side and curtain airbags, along with traction and stability control. Advanced safety feature include BLIS and lane keep assist and lane departure mitigation with forward collision warning or autonomous braking. The interior features two screens and one doubles as a backup camera, plus android auto and apple car play come as standard equipment. This interior is rather sporty looking and the A-Spec model gets a few unique touches. The base model comes with heater faux leather seats but real leather is available or standard on higher trims. Additional packages include a heated steering wheel, cooled front seats, heated rear seats, advanced stereo system and more. The centre push button shifter does take a while to adjust too, it isn’t as logical as a conventional shifter. A base 2.4L TLX starts at $36,000. The base V6 starts at $43,000 but the top model is $53,000 The TLX is offered with a wide array of engines, transmission, FWD or AWD and many packages. The interior has a modern feel with advanced technology and the latest safety features. The new transmissions are better for fuel economy but not drivability, they before you buy.
