Jetblue A320 Takes Lightning Strike at JFK (ATC Recording)

On May 17, 2011, a Jetblue Airbus A320 operating flight 180 from PHX to JFK was struck by lightning during its approach to JFK. The crew declared emergency after smelling smoke in the cockpit, then landed safely. While the aircraft taxied to the gate, fire trucks noticed a suspicious line on the side of the fuselage: after closer inspection, it was determined that it was residue from an old decal or color scheme.
