Steam On The 7th December HD

10.12.2010
Tuesday 7th December and not one, but two steam specials out of Victoria. The first, a Cathedrals Express to Sherbourne, departed at 9:45 behind Black Five 44932 and we see it, first at Kew Bridge, and then again at Chertsey. From Chertsey it was back to the platform at North Sheen for the 12:28 VSOE Surrey Hills Luncheon Excursion pulled by the newly repaired and polished 35028 Clan Line. After North Sheen comes Shalford Junction where the train swings left and climbs the bank to the water stop at Shalford. (The voices in the background are those of two officers of the law, conducting enquiries about someone with a bike) The final shot of Clan Line is from a footpath crossing near Albury. In the evening it was down to a rather deserted Brookwood for the return of 44932. Despite giving the Black Five a head start, it was nearly twenty minutes after arriving at Barnes that the loco appeared from the Hounslow loop, crossed over to what used to be regarded as the slow line, and accelerated away towards London.
