DIY Carpet VW T4 Sliding Door MetalWork & Panels & A Fitting Rubber Seal HD
In this short video I cover how I carpet around an opening window I have just fitted into my sliding door (See links below for parts used). I carpet both the metalwork and the ply lining to try and get the complete carpeted look. To avoid any water seeping in and getting the carpet wet, I fit a rubber seal joining the carpet to the metal which should provide a water tight seal around the door keep the carpet dry. To protect the door which isn`t carpeted, I give it a coat of Hammerite as I will be changing the colour of the van, so didn`t want any exposed white metalwork when the door is opened. Carpeting the sliding door of the campervan gives a more professional look to the door once completed and it doesn`t cost much to do either. If the metalwork wasn`t carpeted the job would have been much easier just carpeting the ply but I wanted the complete look. When I do the rear door panels, I will probably follow the same procedure on those too so subscribe to my channel to follow my progress converting this van from panel van to Campervan.
