Before pardon, Turkey visits WH briefing room
(20 Nov 2018) One of the turkeys under consideration for a presidential pardon visited the White House briefing room ahead of the official announcement Tuesday. White House officials declined to say whether the turkey who visited the briefing room was "Peas" or "Carrots." White House officials said online voting to determine which bird should be pardoned by President Donald Trump had just concluded. Trump is expcted to pardon a turkey Tuesday afternoon in the Rose Garden, an annual Thanksgiving tradition. The turkey was brought into the briefing room by handler Jeff Sveen (pronounced "Sven"), who is also chairman of the National Turkey Federation. The turkey did not appear to respond to questions on whether it had been "promised anything in exchange for your pardon."
