PPP Supporters Stage Massive Protest outside GECOM’s Head Office

The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) in a statement issued on July 18, 2019 said it notes newspaper reports, as well as information provided by its activists across the country, which suggests that the Guyana Elections Commission (GECOM) intends to commence House-to-House Registration on Saturday 20TH July, 2019. To date, the Party said it has not received any official communication from GECOM. The statement added that ‘Our numerous calls to the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Keith Lowenfield have gone unanswered’, pointing out that ‘This activity is a clear violation of the orders of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ), issued on July 12, 2019’. The party called on all Guyanese to protest the CEO‘s unlawful act. As such the party on Friday staged a massive protest in front of the elections body’s head office.
