Robert Jones Dressing for the Lower Leg HD
Robert Jones Dressing for the Lower Leg Version (140826.140826) The Robert Jones dressing is a bulky “compressive” bandage that is often used following foot and ankle surgery. The purpose of this dressing is to minimize edema and bleeding post-operatively. More importantly, this dressing promotes wound healing through a firm and evenly distributed pressure bandage. This bandage is composed of several layers, which includes from inside/out, the incision dressing, under-cast padding, bulky “Jones” cotton, compressive layer of additional under-cast padding, plaster splits for support, splint-unifying cotton wrap, and a 6” elastic bandage. In this patient, a Robert Jones dressing was applied to the lower leg following ankle reconstruction to promote post-operative wound healing. This dressing is removed at the first post-operative visit, which is typically within 10-14 days. This video demonstrates how to apply a Robert Jones dressing to the lower leg following surgery.
