First we will listen to a test recording of the Behringer C1 studio condenser microphone, second, we will compare the sound quality against the industry classic Shure SM58, which is a less sensitive dynamic microphone. To my surprise, the Behringer C1 developed a small humming noise while recording this test, which may have been a failure on my end, because in other recordings I could not hear any noise. I have since tested the Behringer with a USB audio interface, connecting it directly, as well again with my Tube Preamp, and each time it did work fine. Generally speaking, condenser microphones tend to be more sensitive because they use the 48volt phantom power, while dynamic microphones tend to be less sensitive and better at rejecting unwanted sounds in the environment. Personally, I believe that dynamic mics are somewhat easier to use for beginners because they often tend to be more robust and easier to handle. Then again, some people may prefer the sound of condenser mics, simply because they are more sensitive and sound different.
