I mix up a mud pie using Plaster of Paris and All Purpose Joint compound. I use my 12 inch Hawk and Trowel to transfer the mud to the ceiling and then smooth it out using my 6 inch taping blade. I mix the rest of the mud pie and apply a skim coat to the ceiling.There was a sloppy previous ceiling texture repair that did not blend well with the rest of the popcorn ceiling. So, the homeowner wanted me to skim over it and recreate a smooth surface. I use my hawk and trowel to spread the joint compound.
