DIY Drywall Repair: How to Fix Holes and Dents in the Wall (Part 6) http://www.russolinatzpainting.com In this video. I use my 4 inch blade to sand down any high spots or ridge lines from the previous coat. I Then use my 3m sanding pad (fine grit) to sand the outer edges or the perimeter of the repaired areas. I just exert a little pressure on the sanding pad and use speed to my advantage when sanding. This helps cut any edge marks and creates a smooth surface. I then use my dust brush to brush away any dust that was incurred by the sanding. This is an important step becuase if you dont remove the dust, the Primer will not adhere properly to the Joint compound. I then Prime the repaired areas with a latex primer/sealer using a 1/2 inch Nap roller. I am using a 1/2 Nap roller to help build up the texture of the primer so that it will help match the existing texture of the walls beyond the patched area.
