My New Off Grid Work Shop On Wheels And Sleet Today

09.11.2013
A walk through my new off grid work shop on wheels. This is an empty camper that was special ordered when it was made. It has nothing inside but a desk. The special thing about this camper is that it has an extra large rear access door with a porch on the back. There is a heavy aluminum ramp to allow for wheel chair access into the camper through the large back door. This would make an awesome toy hauler. I got the camper for free from the church who had parked it here because it was water damaged. It is unfit for their purposes and would cost too much to renovate to their standards. For my purposes though, a work shop on wheels, it is perfect. It has multiple 120 volt power outlets all around the camper inside and out. It has two doors, each with a porch light above it. It has working AC, lots of fluorescent lighting and a small desk in the front. It came with some folding chairs and benches as well. There is a front storage compartment which spans the whole camper from side to side. It has a battery compartment with a marine deep cycle battery in it as well. I still need to find the DC circuits though. It has a solid rubber roof with one single seam on the front top. This seam leaks and was poorly patched allowing rain to seep in. This was a very wet year and it ruined the front wall and the front few feet of the ceiling. This is no problem for me to repair though with time. I have to remove the damaged wood and allow the camper to dry out, after patching the roof. I always wanted an empty camper to use as a work shop. This is a dream come true. As a person on the go, with no place to call home permanently, this is perfect. I can set up my work shop inside the camper and leave it. If I move, it can go with me. Simple. I will now get rid of the old 32 foot camper and probably the truck camper. Although I love the truck camper, it is hard to get onto the bed of my huge truck and I am always so nervous loading and unloading it. It is time to move on, I guess. I can also keep my homemade survival truck supplies in the camper if needed. It is fast and easy to get to that way if I have to bug out. The new work shop on wheels has an all aluminum frame construction with solid foam insulation. So even though the paneling is ruined from water damage, the frame and insulation are not damaged. Today we had sleet all day. It was light but constant all day. It has been very cold but the wood stove has been keeping me warm enough when I have it running. I have to get some wood split though so it can dry out. A lot of this wood is very wet. Some packages arrived. It has been a busy week for the mail man it seems. One of the packages contained a hammering wood splitter to help split wood easier. The other two packages were from the same person and one had some breakfast on the go, which is a healthy musli type of breakfast you can eat instantly anywhere. The other had a coleman -5 degree sleeping bag. This is the best sleeping bag I ever owned.
