Is this the most inhospitable place on Earth? the Danakil Depression HD

We are walking around Hamed Ela camp, formally this area is the hottest inhabited place on the Earth. It is a few kilometres from Dallol and this camp is the first stop for the salt camel caravans returning from the mines nearby. We spend some time in the Afar village observing locals in their duties. Afars are nomad by nature and live under extreme conditions, it is incredible that one can spend most of his life in such hard environment with little water and no electricity. Huts are incredibly basic and are too hot to sleep inside. The area is also a bit unsettled due to the Ehiopia-Eritrea conflict. In 2012 five foreign tourists were murdered in the region. You can not get into Dallol now without the support of the Ethiopian army therefore you have to arrange the visit well in advance.
