Red phosphorous from White Phosphorous using Potassium Iodide as a catalyst . HD

I heat white phosphorous in a stainless steel sealed retort with a small amount of potassium iodide as a catalyst and get a high yield of red phosphorous . i use a sodium hydroxide solution to neutralize any remaining white phosphorous which seems to work well.
