How to run a successful salon business. Embrace the problems! HD

11.01.2016
It’s inevitable that as business owners we’re often going to experience things that go wrong; incidents out of our control. Thankfully for most of us the consequences aren’t usually going to be serious injury to our clients or catastrophic business failure. When bad stuff happens it’s important to deal with it. And in my experience the more upfront, open and honest you are with clients the more likely you are to reach a positive outcome. Handled well, bad things can even turn out being a positive for a business. In fact it’s often in the uncertainty that the growth is. How you respond is what determines the outcome… You see, your clients won’t usually hate you for mistakes that you’ve made or when things have gone wrong – providing you get on top of the situation and sort it out as quickly as possible. When things go wrong [and they will] it gives you a chance to strengthen your relationships, bad things actually create a ‘moment of truth’ in the relationship with our clients; when in most cases how we react and respond is what determines the outcome – not what happened in the first place. Go the extra mile But it’s not enough to just fix it; the best salons go further than their clients could ever expect. The negative becomes a positive – because of how it was dealt with and you can end up getting raving fans out of what could have been a disaster! As Bill Gates once said, “Your most unhappy customers are your greatest source of learning” So when stuff goes wrong embrace it, welcome it and look for the opportunity to grow from it!
