Restoration : small axe (light restoration on a poorly maintained but still very good shape axe) HD
Over view : -very little damage to the bit aside from poll compaction -handle is weathered and shows drying but not functionally severe -dramatic difference in handle thickness/width On handles, older style handles were much thinner because : -the axes were lighter for impact energy -less feedback in hand (spring in the handle) Lower quality wood and lack of perception about quality has lead to a dramatic decline in handle functionality. Work done : -quick buff of the head -strip/sand the handle -grind down the edges of the poll -coat the handle in linseed oil over a week -reset the edge bevel (17 dps) and sharpen Discussion : http://www.cliffstamp.com/knives/forum/read.php?7,8533
